  1. This was taken in the tiny Postman's Park, tucked in behind skyscrapers in The City, near St. Paul's. It's a memorial erected by local people to commemorate citizens who died trying to save the lives of others. All the plaques (which date from c. 1860 to c. 1920) are worded in Victorian-sounding language like, "scorched to death" or "drowned while trying to save a lad". It's very poignant.
