On first glimpse, I thought these were two abandoned places. But on second thought/glimpse, I think they're places that are waiting, full of expectancy.
Context (below): DP and I presented at a conference in Nice in the late fall. On our last day in the city, we were walking on the boardwalk (which is concrete) and saw this gorgeous Mediterranean-side living room.
