    These are wind towers, old-school Arab air conditioning. They direct breezes into the structure. This being Dubai, these are purely decorative -- they're sitting atop air-conditioned buildings.

    These pics are so alike in feel. When I saw Santi's pic, I actually had a second when I thought, "Did I take that in Dubai?"
